Bath Mums is a community website started in 2010 by Lisa Speigal, a local mum who thought if she found this site useful, others would too. Here's how it happened...
As a mum I've spent many hours in coffee shops. When my little one was born getting dressed before midday was a challenge but I set myself the task of actually leaving the house each afternoon and heading down to my local coffeehouse to instil some kind of normality in my life. In between the endless nappy changes, bottle warming, screaming and the odd spill of coffee I began to observe something: Parents are often in the same boat but we rarely speak to each other. It's strange how we suddenly become members of this exclusive club yet meeting others can be so hard.
Ding - note to self, wouldn't it be great if we had a community website where parents in the area could get involved?
Like many young families it wasn't long before my husband (business partner and fairly accomplished geek) and I sat down one night and had "the chat" about finally leaving London. Some twelve months later we were heading down the M4 excited about picking up the keys to our new Bath abode. Once the boxes were unpacked and hubby was out at the office all day, I realised it was down to me to carve out a life for myself and my little one.
Not knowing the city too well and having zero friends made this a little tricky but I pounded the streets, made dozens of phonecalls and hunted online and slowly we found some little gems to try out - Ding note to self, this could have been so much easier if all the details were in one place!
And so BathMums.co.uk was created.
The aim of the website is to provide parents with a wealth of information on all things kiddie related. Whether you're looking for a new school or nursery, a nearby toddler group or something to do at the weekend you'll find it all here under one roof.
As a member we'll keep you posted on what's going on in the area, upcoming events and any offers from local retailers, plus the odd online offer too!
We're a community website that welcomes your thoughts and relies on your input. If there's a local issue you'd like to discuss, our forum gives you the platform to air your views. You can also help other parents in the area by giving your feedback on local places.
Please remember we rely on local knowledge to compile the information on this website and we're extremely grateful for all the help we receive. We're far from infallible so please let us know if there's anything missing or just plain wrong.
Welcome to Bath Mums.
