Norland Nursery cares for and educates 61 children aged 16 weeks to 5 years. The nursery is open from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday and sessions are available for half or full days.

The nursery is based on a family structure where a key person is responsible for the care of children in mixed age groups. Children play in a free flow environment where their play is led by their own interests; the staff then build on these interests with planned development activities. The nursery has 6 areas that contain different resources to capture the attention and imagination of the children; these include the creative room, discovery room, reflection room, technology room, baby room and outside area - as part of the free flow structure the outside space is always available, whatever the weather.

As well as the fantastic resources available within the nursery, Norland also welcomes a variety of external specialists on a regular basis to run sessions with the children such as Yoga Bugs and Up and Unders sessions ran by Bath Rugby. These sessions are open to all of the children to join in as they wish.

The nursery has its own in-house chef who cooks a variety of exciting meals from scratch every day, meaning that special diets can easily be catered for - the latest menus can be found on the nursery website.

Fantastic place. I couldn't imagine leaving my daughter at a traditional nursery now, she is so used to free flow. She also learns so much from the older children (she has her heroes) and some of them take an interest in her and take her to do different activities. In turn she looks after some of the babies which is great for is we have another child.
The 'provocation' idea is great: If a few children have an interest, such as in babies, the nursery develops this by having a real baby in to be bathed by the children, field trips to newborn weigh-ins etc.
The Norland staff are fantastic, they know everyone's name, the parents' names, the grandparents' names! They give very detailed daily feedback and report forms. They are all intelligent, speak well, fun, creative and are excellent role models for the children. They give a lot of love to the children.

What an amazing place!!
When we decided to start Ava at nursery I was so anxious about being apart from her. She was very unsettled for the first couple of weeks but we were allowed to spend an hour every day there until she settled. One day it just clicked and now she just adores going there.
It is an incredible happy and supportive place and I can’t recommend it enough.

My son started there at 10months. He loves it and we're thrilled with the wide range of activities he gets involved in. The free flow system is unusual but works, it means that the younger children get to spend time with and learn from the older children just like families at home. The food is cooked by in house chef Geoff and is always fantastic. very pleased with our choice of nursery.

My children have both been with Norland Nursery for the last year. Having visited many other nurseries within Bath we feel it to be by far the most superior. The care and attention offered to our children and us as a family is amazing, with nothing too much trouble.
It is certainly a nursery that focuses equally upon the care and education of the children, and yes the staff are well qualified, the time and energy that they place into the planning is overwealming. All aspects of learning are covered in an environment full of beautiful equipment with even a beach and woodwork bench!
We can't reccomend it enough, thank you Norland!

My 2 year old son loves the NNursery we started late November 2010 when he was just over 2 y o, the nannies are very competent and they even came to visit us at home to better understand the child's enviroment...outstanding.

I'll echo the previous comment. It's early days for my little one at the nursery but so far so good. I'm very impressed.

I echo Ploppity. My daughter also goes there and we love it. It was by far the best nursery we viewed.

My daughter goes there and absolutely loves it. The Norland girls are intelligent, fun and friendly (if sometimes a bit shy at first with parents). The facilities are outstanding. The thought that goes into planning what they do is amazing.
