Hi all

I'm soon to be a new dad and have been looking at local nurseries in Bath and Bristol. From my internet searches there seems to be an overwhelming amount of choice and I could use some help and advice! Obviously how a nursery feels when you visit is important but how do I even know which ones to visit?! Is there anything I should be looking for - how can you even tell nurseries apart from their website??

Any help or advice would be much appreciated! First kid so this is all new to me.

Thanks!

I would start by looking at it practically. Who is going to be dropping off and picking up? Do you want somewhere near work or home? Look at the ones that work for you from that perspective, then when you've seen a few you'll get a feel for what's important to you, be it outside space, size, organisation etc. If none of the ones near you are right, widen your search. The only way to judge is by visiting and talking to the people there, but as you say it can be hard to know where to start. You can also look at their Ofsted reports online which gives you a bit more background info. Good luck!

I would visit as many as possible and you will know when you have found the right one ! If it feels like a place you would want to be then you will feel happy leaving your child there. You should do it sooner rather than later as the best nurseries seem to get booked up a long way in advance.

What's wrong with looking after your new baby yourself? It's not even born yet. Enjoy those early years becuase you can never get them back. Seriously, you'll miss so much by not looking after your baby yourself.
